Six candidates.
Three debates.
Your questions.

Three seats on the Chico City Council are on the ballot this November. Before you vote, we're putting each pair of candidates in a room for a full hour, hosted by Hayley Watts of Action News Now and Mike Wolcott of the Chico Enterprise-Record. All three air Sunday evenings on Action News Now, starting September 20.

District 2
Shelby Hebert & Kasey Reynolds
Sunday, September 20
District 4
Tracy Vincent & Addison Winslow
Sunday, October 4
District 6
Megan Thomas Petty & Tom van Overbeek
Sunday, October 11

One debate per race

Districts 2, 4 and 6 are on the ballot. Each pair gets their own full hour, so you can hear the two people competing for your seat answer the same questions back to back.

Chico writes the questions

Submit what you want asked and upvote what your neighbors suggested. We'll work with the hosts to pick the questions Chico most wants answered.

Watch it on Action News Now

Action News Now broadcasts each debate in full on a Sunday evening. Every one of them lands here afterward too: free, no login, watch whenever you want.

Council decides the things you actually notice — roads, rents, parks, the police budget, what happens downtown. Three of the seven seats making those calls are on this ballot. Most of us will vote on them knowing almost nothing about the people in them.

An hour each, on the record. That's what these are for.

What should they be asked?

This is the part we need Chico for. Add a question, or upvote the ones you want to hear answered. We'll use what's here to help the hosts pick the final questions.

What question do you want to ask to our candidates?

Every question is screened before it posts. We don't post anything that:

  • attacks or insults a person instead of asking about their record
  • uses slurs, harassment, obscenity or threats
  • is an ad, a link drop, or isn't a question for these candidates

Two of us are putting this on ourselves
